Why should I join a fraternity?

I joined the Marine Corp right out of high school and my contract is up in a few months. I have been looking at colleges and fraternities. Why should I join a fraternity? What are the pro's and con's of joining a fraternity?

If you're a Marine, you're already in a fraternity for life. Why join another one? When I got out of the military and went back to school, I saw most frat guys as being either the kids that got picked on way too much in high school, or the kids that were too drunk/stoned to show up for class in high school. They're stupid, man. Stay away. And don't think for a minute that you have to be in a frat to score a sorority chick. They're pretty easy, and definitely hookup with ex-Marines. With that said...

Pros
You get really *kool* shirts with greek letters on them, plus some nickname on the back that your new friends give you. Non-Greeks become envious.
Community service goes on your resume.
First pick on new sorority trash (which, by then, is probably fourth pick overall).

Cons
You get stereotyped for life. All future employers will know that you were a drunk, drug using, womanizing slacker in college, whether you were or not.
Initiation. You'll likely have to drink your own urine, masturbate in a church, or run naked through campus while covered in your new brothers' fecal matter. Hooray!
You'll likely get at least one STD. It's actually required in some frats.

I'm sure I missed some, but there's the basics. Hope this helps. Thank you for serving our country.
