Swift has the possibility of becoming a back end, server side language. It’d be fast, typesafe, and means the app and the back end could be written in the same language and perhaps share code.
The cons are that server-sider technology is best when it’s tried and tested, old and boring. It’ll be a while before Swift is boring enough.
